Rice Krispy Treat Reindeer

This is a great treat to make with kids at Christmas time.  They love Rice Krispy treats and they love making the little reindeer.  You can substitute brownies for the Rice Krispy Treats.

You will need:

Rice Krispys

Marshmallows

Butter or margarine

Chocolate chips

Pretzels

Red gum drops

A small amount of frosting

Step 1.  Make the Krispy Treats.

Set aside a handful of marshmallows. Then make the Rice Krispy Treats.   If you don't have a favorite recipe, melt 2 tbsp of butter in a large saucepan.  Add the rest of the marshmallows and stir until they are melted.  Add 6 cups of Rice Krispys and stir.  Pour into a pan, press down with lightly buttered fingers, and let cool.  Slice them into triangles.

Step 2.  Make eyes and noses for the reindeer.

Meanwhile, make eyes by pushing chocolate chips into marshmallows.  Use frosting if they chocolate chips don't stick.  Slice the gumdrops to make noses.

Step 3.  Assemble the reindeer.

Press the eyes and noses onto the reindeer.  Krispy Treats are slightly sticky so they will probably stick, but you may want to use a dab of frosting to make sure they stay in place.  Make the antlers for the reindeer with pretzels.  Stick them on the top of the triangle with a dab of frosting.

"Whittle" plain soap into a festive holiday bar. Soap is soft enough to shape easily and this is a good project for kids because you don't need a sharp knife to cut the soap.
