Rice Krispy Bird's Nest

These little nests are a quick and yummy treat.  We use Mike & Ikes for the eggs but you can use your favorite small candy, such as peanut M&M's or Jelly Beans.

You will need:

2 Tbs of butter

4 cups of marshmallows

6 cups of Rice Krispy cereal

Mike & Ikes or other small, oval candy

Wax paper

A large pot and a spoon

 
  A pot containing rice krispy treats

Step 1.  Melt the butter in the pot.  Add the marshmallows and stir until they are melted.  Add the Rice Krispy cereal and stir until it is evenly coated with marshmallow goop.

Step 2.  Spoon large blobs of Rice Krispy treats onto the wax paper.  Let them cool for a few minutes and then press down in the center to shape them into a bird's nest.

Step 3.  Add a few colored eggs to each nest.

 

Hummingbirds make the smallest nests of all the birds.  Some hummingbird nests are less than an inch across!  Social Weavers build the largest nests.  Their nest can be twenty feet long and ten feet high.
