Easiest Popcorn Balls

These popcorn balls are delicious and fun.  The marshmallow base is easy and almost foolproof to make.  The result is a sweet and chewy autumn treat.

You will need:

1.  Popcorn  (10 cups popped)

2.  1/4 cup of butter or margarine + extra

3.  1/2 cup of brown sugar

4.  6 oz of marshmallows

5.  A big bowl, a spoon, a pot, and wax paper

6.  Cellophane and ribbon

*This recipe makes about 10 popcorn balls

Two wrapped popcorn balls
A brown bag and a measuring spoon set with popcorn kernels 1.  Pop your popcorn.  The package will have instruction on how to pop corn in a pot.  To reduce the grease, we like to microwave ours, although it takes a few extra minutes.  Just put 3 Tbs. of popcorn in a brown paper lunch bag, fold the top over twice, and microwave for 1 1/2 to 2 minutes.  Listen for the popping to slow down and then remove the bag from the microwave.  You should get about 4 cups of popped corn.  Sort out the un-popped kernels, and repeat until you have enough popcorn.
A gooey brown mixture in a pot 2.  Melt the butter and sugar together.  Add the marshmallows and stir over low heat until they are melted.
A close up of popcorn coated by a sticky substance 3.  Pour the marshmallow mixture over the popped corn.  Let it cool for two or three minutes.  Butter your hands and use them to stir the mixture until the corn is evenly coated with the marshmallow mixture.  Be very careful!  You can burn yourself if you don't allow the marshmallow mixture to cool enough.
Four popcorn balls on wax paper 4.  Take large handfuls of popcorn and squeeze them into balls.  Place them on wax paper and allow them to harden.  They will cool and stiffen, but will keep a soft, chewy texture.
A popcorn ball wrapped and tied with a bow 5.  If desired, wrap each ball in cellophane and tie it with a bow.  Enjoy!
