1.  Bring 3/4 cup of water to a boil.  Remove the water from the heat.  Add one package of gelatin and stir until it is dissolved.  Add 1 tsp. of essential oils and 1/4 cup of ice.  Stir until the ice is melted.

Note:  Use one teaspoon of essential oils for a mild scent.  You can smell it faintly from about 4 feet away.   Use two or three teaspoons if you want a stronger scent.

Putting the mixture in molds to obtain different colors 2.  If desired, you can add a few drops of food coloring to color the mixture.  You can either pour the air freshener directly into the jar, or pour it into molds to get a mix of colors.  Let the mixture sit for several hours until it is firm.
Trace the lid of the jar 3.  Meanwhile, trace the top of the jar onto patterned paper and cut out the circle.
Poke holes in the paper top 4.  Use a thumbtack to poke several hole into the top of the paper.

There have been concerns in recent years about toxicity in air freshening products.  Many products contain chemicals known to aggravate respiratory problems and even to cause cancer.  Making your own air freshener has never been a better option!  You know what you put into the product, so you know what you are breathing.
