Message on a Banana

Tattooing a banana is a fun way to give a message to a loved one.  Slip the banana into a lunch box or put it on a plate at breakfast.  Kids especially enjoy making this craft.  We include a pattern but, of course, you can write out any message or even make a picture.

You will need:

1.  The  banana tattoo pattern

2.  A banana

3.  Scissors and tape

4.  A clean pin

A banana with
Letter taped to a banana 1.   Take the pattern, cut out the words, and tape them to the banana.
Pricking out the message on the banana 2.  Use the thumbtack to prick all along the words.  Push just hard enough to punch through the paper and prick the banana's skin.
A message on a banana 3.  Remove the paper and tape and the message will be on the banana.  The longer the banana sits, the darker the message will become.

Bananas are grown in over 100 countries, and eaten in many more.  Bananas grow in huge bunches from what looks to be a palm tree, but is really the world's largest herb.  We are used to seeing one type of banana in our grocery stores, but there are many varieties.  They come in many sizes, flavors, and textures.  Exotic banana varieties are becoming more popular and easy to obtain.

Build a turkey from an apple and vegetables for an edible Thanksgiving craft.

Easy, but realistic, even 7 and 8 year olds can make these roses.

The spring blossom tree is a fun craft. Children will love that they can munch on popcorn and use it to make "blossoms" on their tree.
